During a journey through Cambodia, we visited the grounds of the Royal Palace, whose gardens are filled with exotic plants. I have previously used a photograph taken there in another work. The Peacock Flower featured in this piece appears almost luminous in the intense sunlight, its reds and yellows set vividly against the surrounding green foliage.

The geometric composition uses the square format to frame the photograph, drawing its interior palette directly from the flamboyant colours of the plant itself.
