The Legendary Island of Brazil
Sometimes referred to as 'Brasil', Hy-Brasil', or 'O'Brasil' this island was mentioned in various early Irish literature. The island was 'known' to Bristol seamen before 1497 and can be found on charts and maps until 1850 when, on the British Admiralty chart it was depicted as 'Brasil Rock'.
