Mother Mare

This foal was born near to our home and we spent ages observing it as it explored the world near to its mother.

After a while it suckled for milk and then fell asleep standing up! I was curious. Do horses sleep standing? According to this site, this is just one of those animal myths. They can ‘take naps’ standing, but need to stoop or lay down to get proper sleep.
