Losing Teeth

Zoë loses another tooth!

This one was really hanging by a thread, and I thought, if it comes out at school, she’ll drop it in the playground. We mustn’t let the tooth fairy down! I have to confess that I gave it a little pull and there it was in my hand. If the tooth fairy is reading this, you may have to negotiate a higher fee. In my childhood, tooth fairies gave a sixpence, this has risen steeply to £1 and this morning Zoë suggested one euro! Actually less than £1 but I’m not so sure if they have covered this at school yet!

I trawled the web and - guess what - http://www.toothfairy.org/ Take a look! Has a nice little animation. And http://www.mytoothfairy.com/ This one is a bit more commercial.

Swimming without Floats

It always feels good to report these milestones for children.

Swimming today with the children, we took the brave step of taking Hannah’s ‘floatie’ vest off and letting her float free in the deep pool. Of course we were on hand to grab her when she couldn’t keep herself afloat. She managed fantastically well and rather than being frightened by the experience, she had to be persuaded to put the swimming vest back on!

Ice Skating

Took the family ice-skating today. What exilaration! I can’t believe how I remembered how to do it again after only a short time. Zoe and Hannah fell over often but they seemed to be gradually getting the hang of it. I think both the children were encouraged by seeing a girl probably of about 5 years in a pink tutu doing fantastic piroettes!

Piano Lessons

Zoe is doing fantastically well with her piano lessons. In only a short time she is playing a full repetoire including ‘Happy Birthday’, ‘Lavendar Blue’, ‘Greensleeves’ and the theme from ‘Titanic’. Wow! She can do some of this ‘by heart’ now but is also becoming competent at reading the music. All credit to her mum.

We must record something soon for the web site!

Business Cards

Used to be known as visiting cards or even calling cards!

I was looking through my books of business cards that I have picked up over the years. Once, I was so well organised that I bought some of those display books from the stationers and collected them together. Mind you, I still have a drawer full!
---Three things occured to me.
First, I wonder what happened to all those people and all those businesses that I came into contact with? I need to look a few people up online.
---Then, really, these cards should be dated! Should be a requirement! I can’t remember when I picked most of these up!
---Also, how about a museum (online of course!) of business cards?

Of course, needless to say,I have found a few online this evening!:: Here is a private collection..
And at the Harvard Business School.

Anthony Howell

Bumped into an old friend today.

Anthony is an artist and formed the Theatre of Mistakes.

I knew Anthony Howell through Bob Janz years ago (actually must be 25 years). I bumped into him today and we chatted about old times and mutual friends. I knew his ex-wife Signe because she studied anthropology near by.
